Inter School Science Exhibition

Army Public School, PRTC hosted its annual inter school science exhibition 2018-19 themed ' Towards a Cancer Free World' on 09 Aug 2018. A series of events were conducted for classes 6 to 12. The events were Slogan writing on Cancer Awareness, Science Rap on eradicating cancer, Poster Making and Street Play on Prevention and Cure of Cancer, Model Making and Painting on Cancer Therapeutics and carcinogenic agents respectively. The events unleashed the creative ink on the canvas for a social cause. The message that strongly emerged through the course of events was "Neither can Cancer invade the Soul not conquer the Human Spirit, but is an opportunity to showcase the bonds of friendship, strength of memories and a litmus test for love, faith and hope."The events witnessed the perception of the millennials towards Cancer, the causes and after effects. The overwhelming participation and passionate competition gave an insight into the minds of the GenX.

Activities 2018-19

Today’s education curriculum focuses all round development of the child. It incorporates three major genres of education: reasoning, psychomotor and emotional learning.
Co-curricular activities are carried out side by side with the curricular activities and takes place outside a typical pen and pencil classroom experience. It helps to develop various facets of the personality development of the child and students.

Towards a Cancer-free world

Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss and a change in bowel movements. While these symptoms may indicate Cancer, they may have other causes. Over 100 types of Cancers affect humans.
Cancer is often treated with some combination of radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy and targeted therapy. Pain and symptom management are an important part of care. The chance of survival depends on the type of Cancer and extent of disease at the start of treatment.

DATE OF EXHIBITION: 09.08.2018 (Thursday)
PURPOSE: Bringing a wide awareness for a Cancer-free society
GROUPS: The events will be under following two categories:
1. Juniors: Classes VI-VIII
2. Seniors: Classes IX-XII
LAST DATE OF REGISTRATION: 03.08.18 (Friday)
NOTE: REGISTRATION IS FREE

EVENTS:

  1. SLOGAN-WRITING (EVENT 1)- “Slogan on cancer awareness”
    Event type: Team event (Maximum 2 in a team; Single team / institution)
    Eligibility criteria:Juniors
    Note:
  1. Necessary materials to be brought by the participants
  2. Duration: 1 Hour
  3. Size: 3’ X 2’ Paper
  • SCIENCE RAP (EVENT 2)- “A message to eradicate cancer”
    Event type: Team event (Maximum 6 in a team; Single team /institute)
    Eligibility criteria: Juniors
    Note:

    1. Music/Instruments (if any): to be brought by the participants
    2. Duration: 3-4 minutes (Language: English or Hindi)
  • POSTER –MAKING (EVENT 3)- “Don’ts on cancer”
    Event type: Team event (Maximum 2 in a team; Single team / institution)
    Eligibility criteria: Juniors
    Note:

    1. To be made on a chart paper on the spot
    2. Duration: 1 hour (On the spot event)
    3. Materials to be brought by the participants
  • MODEL MAKING (EVENT 4) – “Cancer therapeutics”
    Event type: Team event (Maximum 2 in a team; one team /institution)
    Topic: “Latest research in cancer treatment”
    Eligibility criteria: Seniors
    Note:

    1. Models should be pre-prepared, displayed and explained (confine to only
      one type of cancer)
    2. Dimensions of the area of display: 2’ X 3’ area on a table
    3. References for Case studies can be included
    4. Clay/POP/Putti can be used. No thermocol to be used.
  • PAINTING A CANVAS (EVENT 5)- “Carcinogenic agents”
    Event type: Team event (Maximum 2 in a team; Single team / institution)
    Eligibility criteria: Seniors
    Note:

    1. Use of canvas/cotton cloth (Size-100 cm X 80 cm)
    2. Materials to be brought by the participants only
    3. Duration: 1 hour
    4. On the spot event
  • STREET PLAY (EVENT 6) - “Prevention and cure”
    Event type: Team event (Maximum 8-10 in a team; one team /institute)
    Eligibility criteria: Seniors
    Note:

    1. Music (if any): to be brought in a pen drive
    2. Duration: 4-5 minutes
    3. Language: English or Hindi
    4. Props may be used
